OICC Press
Invisible Dragon has worked with OICC Press over a number of years, with a range of different products as the needs of OICC has changed over time ensuring their business has the technology in place to allow them to grow.
Back in 2022, OICC worked with us to create a bespoke WordPress website for their journal platform to publish articles for each journal, of which quickly expanded into a WordPress Multi-Site in order to facilitate journals to edit their own “microsite” while keeping separation of concerns. This allowed for a large amount of flexibility and featured bespoke navigation and categorisation of articles including two different URLs for each article, one being a summary, and another being a full-text HTML view of the article where available.
We then found this platform had reached it’s limits and we moved towards OJS (Open Journal System) with a customization of an existing theme to add some OICC branding across all journals. Also this facilitated the creation of multiple plugins for OJS of which have been open source over on GitHub. A lot of this functionality was added to mimic functionality from the bespoke WordPress website, or to add functions requested by journals over time.

We have continued to work with OICC Press including the development of a bespoke platform for managing pre-production of articles built with Laravel of which manages articles from original files from an author, to being assigned by the journal team to one another while being able to see the workload and status of each member of staff. Other projects include a simple payment platform to allow for payments to be made during the off-site article publication workflow using Stripe.
We also continue to support the OJS installation with new plugins and updates over time as needs and requirements are raised by each journal team, including handling large migrations from other platforms which includes large XML file migration to page scraping details from old websites to allow journals to move towards the modern OJS publishing platform.
