Free Wills Online

Free Wills Online, or FWO, approached Invisible Dragon looking for completion of their automated will writing service. After working with other web design providers who were unable to complete the original brief of not only collecting all of the information required for the will, but to generate a draft copy of the will instantly online.

Invisible Dragon was able to complete the website. including a homepage redesign from the original brief to be more engaging and eye catching to new customers. Taking inspiration and cues from the UK Government’s design manual we were able to complete an online account with checked forms for each stage of the will. To write a will in general it requires a lot of information to be provided, such as which child gets how much percentage of your estate and other provisions.

Behind the scenes a bespoke template system was created where a global template language would be able to take the information created against the user from the various forms, and transform it into a “draft will” in a plain text format. This format again had paragraphs starting with “x” and “x.y” in order to denote the clauses and sub-clauses.

Then upon PDF generation, this would be transformed to a counted point by point clause system allowing for a professional looking document. The draft was also saved against the customer to allow for any modifications to be made by Free Wills Online to the actual text to make more sense over the automated draft.

Finally, the website took payment for additional services or a tip on the free service using Stripe. Overall providing a simplistic looking solution to a complex business requirement.
